The 2014 NBA All-Star Game In New Orleans

The NBA All-Star Game is a friendly game hosted and carried out by the NBA (National Basketball Association each year since its introduction in 1951. This exhibition game matches the star players of the association from the Western Conference against the Eastern Conference. The featured event of is the NBA All-Star Weekend. One of the best attractions of this exhibition game is featuring the wonderful city wherein the event is held. In 2014, the 2014 NBA All-Star Game will be held in New Orleans, the home of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans team, in New Orleans Arena.

This will be the 63rd time that the National Basketball Association has held the NBA All-Star Game every year and the 2nd time that the event will be held at New Orleans Arena. The first time that New Orleans, Louisiana has hosted the NBA All-Star Game was in 2008.

The starting lineup for both the Western and Eastern conference teams will be chosen by the fans thru ballot voting, while the lineup of the reserves will be selected by the league’s head coaches from their respective conferences. The head coaches aren’t permitted to vote for players in their own team. Once a chosen NBA player can’t take part in the event due to an injury, the replacement is then chosen by the NBA commissioner, which by 2014 is Adam Silver replacing David Stern.

The coach of the NBA team having the best record in their respective conferences will be selected to take the reins in the event. On the other hand, despite the record of the team, a head coach isn’t allowed to take part in the NBA All-Star in two consecutive years. Acknowledged as the “Riley Rule”, in which the Los Angeles Lakers of the 1980s, wherein Pat Riley was the coach, won a lot that Pat Riley finished up to be the Western Conference coach 8 times out of 9 seasons (between 1982 and 1990), this rule was implemented. If a certain team repeats having the best record in either conference, the head coach of the conference’s having the second-best record takes the spot as the All-Star coach for either conference.

The NBA All-Star Game is player under usual rules of the National Basketball Association, but there are still noteworthy distinctions from a normal NBA game. Because the starting All-Star players are chosen by the fans all over the world, at times, players begin the game out of their regular positions.

Every NBA All-Star Game is fun, not because the All-Star Game but it also features a lot of attractions for the fans, both casual and hardcore fans. The included attraction of the event is it features the first-year (Rookies) players and the second-year (Sophomores) players in a game. It also features the Skills Challenge, 3-point Shootout and the Dunk Contest. All of these attractions will once again be featured in the 2014 NBA All-Star Game.
